Today is Passover!!
Well technically it started yesterday… So Happy Passover everyone!
Why all of a sudden am I so into this whole passover thing? Is it cuz I was just in Israel a few weeks ago? Well heck ya!! But other than that, the trip has made me reflect on a number of things. And one of them is the passover.
During my flight back to Vancouver, I sat next to a Jewish lady whom I had the privilege to blatantly ask questions about her belief. In doing so, it enriched my beliefs as a Christian. One of the things I began to talk to her and ask her about was the Passover… So back to the Passover…
As you might know, the Passover originated from the time of Moses and the last of the 10 plagues on Pharaoh and the Egyptians and God saves the Israelites (Exodus 12).
Why does it mean a lot to me though?
“Jesus fulfilled Passover for us and because of His work we are righteous before God. Passover speaks of his great love for us and is a constant reminder that we are loved so much he died for us. It also speaks of His great grace for us. In that while we were [still] sinners (and helpless to save ourselves), [Jesus] died for us and saved us by divine power. He is mighty to save!!” —taken from an email I received today (March 26/13) from a new buddy in Christ, Ian Wilkinson.
And I echo what Ian said loud and proud!!! Not proud of myself or Ian, but of Jesus, my God!! Jesus was the Passover lamb. His blood was shed for me… for you!!
That said… here’s a question to ask yourself today:
“What does the Passover mean to you today?”
“How does Jesus’ LOVE and GRACE effect your life?”
